accomodations

For the Welcome Party, we've reserved a block of rooms each at the Radisson Blu and the Jurys Inn Hotel Christchurch in Dublin. Both are within walking distance from the Guinness Storehouse. Feel free to search for other places to stay near the area or wherever suits you best!

For the events in Oldcastle, County Meath (the Wedding and the Farewell Party), lodging/accomodations are trickier, as there aren’t large hotels around. We suggest you do a google search for lodging near Oldcastle. Results may be in a different county which may be closer than those originally posted on the Save the Date - apologies for the confusion! Please check out the following locations to start:

Oldcastle House Hotel, Oldcastle

Fincourt, Oldcastle

Currans B&B, Oldcastle (may need to follow-up with a phone call)

Loughcrew Megalitic Centre, Hostel, & Glamping (may not be ideal for wintertime)

Millbrook Cottages (Airbnb)

Headford Arms, Kells

Lakeside Manor Hotel, Virginia

Crover House Hotel

Please check with where you are staying about the possibility of an early check-in and if they have transportation options to help get you to Loughcrew! We are working with a local taxi company and will share that number with you as soon as we have it.

transportation

Ireland is an incredible place to explore - the city and countryside both offer amazing things to see and culture to take in. Many of you have expressed interest in exploring the country before or after the wedding festivities and have arranged to hire a car. A few tips we picked up in our travels to the Emerald Isle:

Car rental from Dublin Airport is quite easy and the signage around the airport is well-marked. You will check-in at a kiosk in the airport and then will be shuttled to the parking lots to pick up the car.

Ireland drives on the left side of the road.

Oftentimes the GPS on your smartphone lags a bit, which can be a bit intense when trying to find your destination while driving on the left side of the road :) It may be worth asking for a car with GPS in it, although it will likely cost more.

Most cars for hire in Ireland are manual, so inquire early about an automatic one if that is what you’d prefer.

There are 2 tolls between Dublin and Oldcastle. You can pay (exact) cash €1.40 at each station. You can also download the app M50 Quick Pay in lieu of cash. We were not successful with that option, but it does exist :)

For those of you who prefer not to be challenged with driving, we will be providing coach transport from Dublin to Oldcastle on 31 December at 11.00a and from Oldcastle to Dublin on 2 January at 11.00a. Please ask your B&B, Airbnb, or hotel hosts about transport from the drop-off location (TBD) to your lodging and from your lodging to Loughcrew later that afternoon (on the 31st).

Taxis are aware of our party and will be made available for transport back to your place. Please have cash available as they will not be taking credit cards that evening.

While Uber exists in Ireland, it does not allow for private car hire. Instead, it connects you with a taxi or limousine service. We are unsure of the availability of such services given the holiday and locaction (outside of Dublin), so again, please ask your local lodging hosts what they recommend - they may even offer to take you themselves!
